Unsupported and Blocked Environments

Intentional safety boundaries — including the deliberate PST/OST block.

DriveAtlas blocks content that falls outside the current product boundary. These restrictions are intentional.

A blocked result does not mean that the content is unimportant or disposable. It means that the item requires a different workflow, specialized tooling, or deeper investigation.

Protected system locations

  • Windows
  • Program Files
  • Protected Microsoft application-data locations

These paths may contain operating-system or application dependencies that cannot be treated as ordinary user folders.

Outlook mailbox stores

  • PST
  • OST

DriveAtlas deliberately refuses to relocate Outlook mailbox stores. Mailbox storage involves application state, synchronization, indexing, profile configuration, and recovery concerns that require specialized handling.

Cloud-managed content

  • OneDrive
  • Other cloud-managed paths
  • Cloud placeholders

The visible local path may not represent a complete ordinary local-file set.

Unsupported storage types

  • Network shares
  • Mapped drives
  • Unknown or optical volumes
  • FAT32 destinations containing any file larger than 4 GiB

Supported as of 1.1.1-beta5: local exFAT volumes and removable NTFS/exFAT destinations. Network and cloud-managed paths remain blocked.

As of 1.1.1-beta6: OS-stable reclaim priorities for user Temp, Windows\Temp, and msoajit* / Office file-cache leaves (parent Microsoft / Windows folders stay protected).

Encrypted and virtualized content

  • EFS-encrypted files
  • Virtual-machine disk files

Linked or redirected paths

  • Junctions
  • Symbolic links
  • Mount points

Unsupported tasks

  • Installed-application migration
  • Delete operations
  • Data recovery
  • Mailbox repair
  • Cloud synchronization repair

What to do with a blocked item

Do not interpret the block as permission to move the item manually. Identify the responsible application, storage technology, or specialist workflow before making changes.
