DriveAtlas and MCAM Studios — Frequently Asked Questions
Product boundaries, beta access, studio identity, and WorkAtlas.
Is DriveAtlas a disk cleaner?
No. DriveAtlas does not search for “junk,” offer a Delete mode, or decide automatically that large content should be removed. It is a supervised storage-triage and relocation tool for Windows technicians working with supported local NTFS and exFAT volumes.
Who is DriveAtlas Technician for?
DriveAtlas is intended for Windows support professionals who handle full C: drive incidents and need more than a list of large folders. It helps the technician understand path sensitivity, apply product boundaries, select an appropriate mode, verify supported relocations, and document the operation.
What is Verified Move?
Verified Move creates a per-file SHA-256 manifest of the supported source content, copies the files to the selected destination, and compares the destination against the complete manifest. Source removal is permitted only after a full match and technician approval.
Does Verified Move guarantee that data can never be lost?
No. DriveAtlas provides a controlled, verified, and documented workflow, but it does not eliminate every possible hardware, operating-system, application, or human risk. It does not replace an appropriate backup or the technician’s responsibility to select supported content and environments.
Why are Outlook PST and OST files blocked?
PST and OST stores are not ordinary document folders. They may involve Outlook profiles, indexing, application state, synchronization, mailbox configuration, and recovery concerns. DriveAtlas blocks them deliberately because they require a specialized workflow rather than a general file-relocation operation.
What systems does DriveAtlas support?
The current beta supports supervised use on Windows 10 and Windows 11 with local NTFS and exFAT volumes (fixed or removable destinations). FAT32 is allowed only when no file exceeds 4 GiB. Network, mapped, cloud-managed, EFS-encrypted, virtualized, linked, and protected system locations remain blocked or unsupported.
How do I get the DriveAtlas beta?
Review the demonstration, Verified Move explanation, supported environments, unsupported environments, release-integrity information, and beta terms. Then submit a U.S. Founding Technician Beta application. Applications are reviewed individually, and acceptance is not automatic.
Is there a public DriveAtlas download?
There is no anonymous public storefront. Accepted Founding Technician Beta participants receive the private package and can verify it against the published release-integrity SHA-256.
How much does the current beta cost?
The current U.S. Founding Technician Beta is listed at $99 USD per named technician. The application must be reviewed and accepted before private delivery instructions are provided.
What is MCAM Studios?
MCAM STUDIOS S.A.S. (NIT 902096214-3) is a Colombian technical studio. José David Contreras is Founder and Lead. It builds tools from real IT support, shop-floor, hardware-control, and observatory operations work, including Windows applications, scripts, plugins, internal systems, and commercial products.
What is MCAM Studios’ observatory involvement?
MCAM Studios builds and operates software for a private observatory in the northern latitudes of Colombia. The work includes booking and session coordination, authorized remote telescope access, ASCOM dome and shutter integration, monitoring plugins, hardware-control interfaces, weather and environmental sensing, relay control, and all-sky camera software.
What is WorkAtlas?
WorkAtlas 2.0 is a separate MCAM Studios product for Classic Outlook work recovery from local PST mail. DriveAtlas still blocks PST/OST relocation. WorkAtlas is a Commercial Preview ($149 USD one-time Paid Pilot for one named operator), not a public EXE download. WorkAtlas product page.
